We have been recognized as a health care leader in many areas, including: Clinical Outcomes & Excellence Baystate Medical Center (BMC) was ranked #3 in Massachusetts by U.S. News & World Report, with the highest rating possible in seven procedures or conditions. BMC was named a 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital by Watson Health, and retained the Magnet® recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). BMC's Medical & Surgical ICU has been recognized by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses with the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence for aligning practices with national standards and achieving superior outcomes. Baystate Health was recognized by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for promoting enrollment in the state eye, tissue, and organ donor registry. Baystate Medical Center was recognized as a national leader in orthopedic care by Becker's Healthcare. BMC was one of the first hospitals in Massachusetts to use a computer-assisted navigation system to improve surgical performance during total joint replacement surgery. The Baystate Health Nurse Residency Program was accredited with distinction in 2018 as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation, one of only two in Massachusetts.
