The Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health Class of 2022 graduated on Sunday June 5, 2022 at UMass Chan Medical School's 49th commencement ceremony in Worcester.
PURCH graduate Iha Kaul was the commencement speaker for the T.H. Chan School of Medicine's Class of 2022.
The day before, students, their families, faculty, and deans were welcomed to a virtual pre-graduation celebration by Dr. Andrew Artenstein, Regional Executive Dean, UMass Medical School-Baystate.
Reflections by Class Speaker Joshua Erban
Class speaker Joshua Erban shared his reflections on the PURCH educational experience, saying, "We’ve learned a lot from our amazing faculty who showed us how they practice what they preach, and how they bring their values to the forefront regardless of their specialty."
He acknowledged that he might not recall many OSD lectures, but he will vividly remember almost every patient interaction he's had.
Dr. Erban concluded by saying he would be honored to have any one of his classmates be his physician, because he knows they will be excellent, compassionate doctors who will listen to their patients and go the extra mile.

Deirdre Buckley MD received the second Trailblazer Award—and the first to an individual recipient—to acknowledge her efforts in creating new opportunities for future students.
Inaugural Anthony P. Lovell MD Memorial Endowed Award for Excellence
Molly Ingemi MD is the recipient of the inaugural Lovell Award in recognition of her outstanding achievement as a graduating medical student from UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate who is returning to Baystate Health for residency training.
