PURCH Student Wins Mass Medical Society Award

Marcella Jewell, in the Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health (PURCH) class of 2024, received the 2022 Massachusetts Medical Society Information Technology Award for her work addressing the nationwide crisis of boarding pediatric behavioral health patients in emergency departments.

Pediatric Behavioral Health Tracking

Jewell’s award-winning work focused on the development of a pediatric behavioral health tracking dashboard in the pediatric emergency department at Baystate Medical Center.

The honor comes with a $5,000 award.
