Twenty-eight medical students in the Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health track at Baystate Health were presented with their white coats—a symbol of their initiation into the medical profession—as part of the 162-member UMass Medical School's Class of 2023.

At the ceremony on September 13 2019, the students were helped into their white coats by their learning community mentors as well as by a person each student chose to participate in this honor because of their role in the student's personal or professional development.
