Lewis Cohen MD awarded a second Bellagio Residency

April 01, 2015

Dr. Lewis M. Cohen, Department of Psychiatry, has been granted a Bellagio Residency Award by the Rockefeller Foundation.

The Bellagio Residency provides a month-long opportunity for writers, musicians, artists, and scholars from around the world to live together in Bellagio, Italy and work on their separate creative endeavors.

Dr. Cohen, who is the Director of Renal Palliative Care, will use the residency to work on his next book, "Fatal Decisions," about the aid in dying movement in American medicine.

He also received this award in 2008. "Can hardly believe that I'm being given another chance to write in the Villa Serbelloni," said Cohen. "Mine is a pretty edgy subject, and it is to the Rockefeller's credit that they are giving me this opportunity."
