About Baystate Medical Genetics

Our team provides comprehensive, compassionate genetic testing during your current or future pregnancy. We are the only full-service genetics center in western Massachusetts.

Our Genetic Testing

We offer the following genetic services:

• Carrier screening for many genetic conditions, such as cystic fibrosis, spinal muscular atrophy, sickle-cell anemia, and many others
• Counseling and testing based on advanced maternal age (if you’re 35 or older)
• Counseling on high-risk first-trimester screens and quad screens (which screens for Down syndrome, Trisomy 18, and spina bifida)
• Diagnostic testing, such as amniocentesis or chorionic villus sampling
• Counseling and testing based on a family history of birth defects or genetic disorders
• Helping to organize care for pregnancies with known or suspected conditions and birth defects
• Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT, also known as cell-free fetal DNA testing)
• Counseling and testing based on ultrasound findings
• Sharing of resources and up-to-date information on genetic conditions
