Goals
This elective provides students with exposure to an integrated medicine/pediatrics ambulatory practice with 32 combined medicine/pediatrics residents. with an emphasis on primary care of adults and children in the ambulatory arena in an inner-city med-peds practice.
The student will receive broad clinical training in the care of adult and pediatric outpatients as well as a sophistication in understanding the ambulatory components of med-peds training.
Objectives
The student will…
- gain knowledge in the areas of continuity clinics, urgent care clinics, and subspecialty clinics including ob/gyn, HIV, tuberculosis, renal disease, physical medicine and rehabilitation, procedure clinics, and infectious disease.
- attend teaching sessions with on-site diabetic counselors, nutritionists, and social workers.
- participate in medicine/pediatric conferences and weekly pediatric and medicine grand rounds.
- experience time on the medicine and pediatric wards.
