Our Residents
“Baystate Internal Medicine Residency Program has been an exceptionally supportive environment, where both faculty and residents create a collaborative and encouraging atmosphere. The exposure to a diverse range of interesting/medically complex cases, engaging didactics, scholarly activities, and the POCUS curriculum has been invaluable for my learning. The program not only prioritizes our well-being as residents but also offers the guidance and opportunities needed to pursue the fellowship of our dreams. I couldn't imagine a better place to grow as a physician.” Chidubem Ezenna, MD - Manager (PGY-II Resident)
Our residents are well-prepared for their future careers, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the ever-evolving field of internal medicine. Over the past five years, 74% of our residents have pursued fellowship training in various disciplines, while the rest have pursued careers in academic medicine, hospital medicine, and primary care. We train our residents to become competent physicians, healthcare leaders, medical educators, and lifelong learners.
Meet Our Current Residents

Srishty Agarwal, MD
Government Medical College Surat
Hi there! I’m Srishty Agarwal, born and raised in the diamond city—Surat, western part of India. I’m a certified binge-watcher (Modern Family has my whole heart!), and when I'm not glued to a screen, you’ll probably find me immersed in dancing or mandala painting (it's like doodling with a purpose—circles, patterns, and the right dose of Zen). Long walks on the beach with endless chit-chat? Count me in! That being said, I'm also excited to check out the hiking trails around Massachusetts.
During my interview at Baystate, I felt an instant sense of warmth, as if I were meeting long-lost family. The residents radiated such genuine camaraderie that it felt like slipping into a place I truly belong.
With a growing passion for Gastroenterology, I’m super excited to see where this journey leads.

Muzna Ali, MD
Penn State University College of Medicine
Hi everyone! My name is Muzna Ali, and I’m from Braintree, MA. I attended medical school at Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA where I enjoyed engaging with the medical humanities and exploring healthcare through that perspective. Outside of medicine, I love writing, watching movies (Letterboxd is my favorite form of social media), reading, and traveling. I also really value quality time with friends and family, so I’m always up for a board game night or spontaneous road trip.
What drew me to Baystate was the supportive and welcoming environment, along with the program’s strong commitment to community care. I’m excited to be part of the Baystate family, and I look forward to growing both personally and professionally during residency.

Adeline Bray, DO
Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine
Hello! I’m Adeline Bray. I’m from Connecticut, and I’m excited to be staying close by to my family- including my 5 younger siblings! Growing up I did musical theater and love to attend shows or standup comedy. I also enjoy playing piano and violin. I like to draw and recently have been exploring clay art. I enjoy tennis and skiing! Above all else I love coffee- currently on the hunt for the perfect cappuccino.
I did two electives at Baystate during my fourth year of medical school and absolutely loved it; I’m so excited to be joining the Baystate family!

Patrick Chang, MD
Drexel University College of Medicine
Hey, I’m Patrick! I grew up in LA then moved to Philly for college and med school, both at Drexel University. During my academic career, I established a research background in neuroscience and oncology, and I worked part-time as a project manager of a spinal implant company.
My hobbies have evolved in parallel to each new phase of my life, but my most meaningful ones are those I can do with or for the people I love. My staples are cooking and custom artwork (in whatever medium I’m feeling that day). When I’m on my lonesome, I like to complete puzzles, watch K-drama/Korean reality shows, and play golf (my newest venture).
With the Baystate family was where I best envisioned the fruition of my ideal physician character. It is my valued privilege to collaborate with faculty and providers that I respect and relate to. From the people to the institution, Baystate is my perfect mise-en-scène to materialize my career ventures my way.

Outside of medicine, you’ll usually find me at the gym, trying out new recipes, traveling, photography and hiking!

Bryan Ezema, MD
Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine
Hi everyone! I’m Bryan Ezema and I was born and raised in New Jersey. I went to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia for my undergrad and moved back to NJ for medical school, where I attended Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine.
One of my favorite things to do is try new restaurants; I’m a BIG foodie and will try anything at least once. I love to cook too so I plan on bringing some dishes to the hospital every once in a while. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, watching sports (specifically basketball, football, and track & field), working out, reading thrillers, and hiking, just to name a few things.
I look forward to getting acquainted with the Springfield area and building our community here!

Jennifer Fusco, MD
University of Connecticut School of Medicine
Hi! I’m Jen! I’m from Seymour, CT, studied Biomedical Science at Quinnipiac University, and went to medical school at the University of Connecticut. Outside of medicine, I love hiking, dancing (badly but enthusiastically), trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and my two cats. I love a good chit chat, a good laugh, and meeting new people.
My hobbies and interests have also revolved around hospitality, whether it’s planning events, working in catering, or thriving off the energy of a busy restaurant. I’m ready to trade in my tableside manner for bedside manner!
With Baystate it was love at first sight. I found a program where I truly felt welcomed, supported, and accepted. Excited to be a part of the family!

Troy Gallerani, MD
Boston University School of Medicine
Hi everyone! I’m Troy Gallerani, and I’m from right here in Western Massachusetts. I’ve always had a deep appreciation for this area, so after spending the last few years in Boston for undergrad and medical school at Boston University, I’m thrilled to be back home.
Outside of medicine, you’ll usually find me outdoors—running, playing sports, hitting the pickleball courts—or exploring new coffee roasteries. I love being a dad and a husband, and my family is a big part of my joy and motivation.
One of the main reasons I chose Baystate is because of the amazing culture I experienced during my time with the residents. The camaraderie and support were palpable, and I knew I wanted to be part of that. I'm passionate about serving the community I grew up in and can’t wait to begin taking care of the people of Western Mass.
I’m excited to learn, grow, and give back to the place that shaped me. Looking forward to getting started!

During my free time, I mostly enjoy spending time with my husband and baby boy. I also have a rather large extended family including 5 siblings, so family time is always fun! I also like to read, exercise, shop, and travel whenever I have the time.

Hi everyone! I’m Cindy. I was raised in Revere, MA. I studied medicine at New York Medical College, and I’m very glad to be in the area again for residency! In my free time, I like to crochet, watch reality tv, run and teach my puppy tricks. My husband and I just got a mini dachshund about a month ago, and he just had his first pup cup last week as a reward for learning new tricks.
I’m really excited to begin my training here at Baystate! When I did my second look, everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, which is the reason why I wanted to come to Baystate. Excited to join the Baystate family!

Prakriti Ramamurthy, MD

Beyond medicine, I’m deeply passionate about dance—I’ve trained in both Indian classical and various Western styles for over 15 years. I also love hiking and spending time outdoors, especially in beautiful New England. I enjoy swimming and playing soccer as well. I have a lifelong fascination with marine life and feel happiest by the ocean, especially at the beach. I’m also a huge food lover and I love discovering new cuisines in my free time. Travel is a big part of who I am and I dream of visiting every country in the world someday!
I’m incredibly excited to join the Baystate family and I can’t wait to grow, learn, and make meaningful connections during this journey.

Eileen Ramirez, MD

Hi everyone! My name is Eileen Ramirez and I am from Elizabeth, NJ. I went to college at Johns Hopkins in Maryland, came back home for med school at Rutgers RWJMS, and am excited to be up north at Baystate.
In my free time I like reading, Latin dancing, puzzling, going to concerts, and traveling/exploring new places (a trip itinerary hates to see me coming). I am an avid sports watcher, especially with baseball. I also enjoy spending time with my friends and family and have been buying way too many things for my future niece due later this year.
Most importantly, I am a fall enthusiast so I cannot wait to enjoy the beautiful landscapes Western Mass has to offer. I look forward to spending the next three years at such a community-oriented program like Baystate.

Gregory Rybacki, DO
Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine
Hi, I’m Greg Rybacki! I grew up in New England and studied at the University of Connecticut for my undergraduate degree before heading to Tufts University, where I completed a master’s in Infectious Disease and Global Health. From there, I made my way west to earn my medical degree at the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine. I’m thrilled to be continuing my journey in medicine at Baystate Medical Center as an Internal Medicine resident—I'm especially excited to be joining a program that values both strong clinical training and a supportive community.
Outside of medicine, I try to stay balanced and enjoy life in as many ways as possible. I love to travel and spend time outdoors—whether it’s skiing, hiking, or scuba diving. At home, you’ll find me cooking with family and friends, cheering on New England sports teams, or meticulously tending to my lawn (yes, I take it very seriously!). I’m looking forward to all the opportunities residency will bring and to becoming a part of the Baystate community.

Asma Saeed, DO
University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine
Hey everyone! My name is Asma and I am originally from the Midwest but moved to Boston, MA as a teenager. Alexander Van den Avont, MD
Chicago Medical School, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science
Hi everyone! I’m originally from the suburbs of Chicago and have spent the last four years living in the city—which I absolutely loved. I went to college at Washington University in St. Louis, where I met my wife, who’s now a medical resident at UConn.
I went to medical school at Rosalind Franklin University and outside of medicine, I enjoy golfing, skiing, hiking, and running—basically anything that gets me outdoors.
I chose Baystate because of the genuine compassion I felt from the team during my interview and second look visit. I’m confident this is a place where I’ll be both supported and challenged as I grow into the physician I hope to become. I’m so excited to get started and can’t wait to meet you all!

Hello! I'm Senila Yasmin, originally from Wakefield, MA. I earned a combined BA/MPH in Biology and Health Policy & Law from Boston University, and received my MD from Tufts University School of Medicine, where I was a proud Sam W. Ho Health Justice Scholar.
As a first-generation Muslim Pakistani-American, I’m deeply committed to health equity, advocacy for underserved communities, and creating more inclusive spaces for minorities in medicine. These values continue to shape my approach to patient care and community engagement. I have been actively involved in leadership roles in organized medicine groups and serve as the Secondary Trustee to the Massachusetts Medical Society Board of Trustees for our Residents and Fellows Section.
Outside of medicine, I love spending time with my family and friends and enjoy hosting board game nights—whether in person or virtually.

Christine Zhang, MD
SUNY Upstate Medical University Alan and Marlene Norton College of Medicine
Hi everyone, I’m Christine! I grew up in California but found myself at home on the East Coast during undergrad at Cornell and later at SUNY Upstate’s Norton College of Medicine. I love all kinds of adventure—whether it’s trying ice climbing for the first time or suddenly discovering way too much about the life of snails. I can be found rock climbing, figure skating, or skiing in my free time because they make me feel like I’m flying, but I also love hiking, biking, running, and painting for the kind of mental stillness that only repetitive movement offers me. I also really enjoy finding new uses for old things—whether that’s turning leftovers into dinner or improvising materials into tools while crafting.
I’m so excited to join Baystate because of the sense of warmth that I have already experienced here. I can’t wait to be part of a community that seems to encourage everyone to keep growing while still being entirely yourself.

Uchechukwu Alanza, MD

In my free time, I love stand-up comedy shows and the commitment that comes with watching multi-season long tv shows. I thoroughly enjoy swimming but I’m what you’d call a persistent swimmer not a good one.
I was drawn to Baystate because of the superb teaching and close-knit community it offers its residents. Over the next 3 years, I am excited to plant roots in Springfield, grow as a physician and pick-up new hobbies!

Hi all! I’m Veronika Berg. I was born in Kyiv, Ukraine but have lived in New Hampshire since 2002. Medical school at ATSU KCOM took me to the Midwest and while I’ve loved exploring the region and experiencing a different pace of life, I’m ready to be closer to home. My typical weekend can include hitting the local museums and rock-climbing gym, getting out of town to go skiing or kayaking or reading and writing in a local cafe or bookstore. I’m incredibly excited to begin my training at Baystate! I chose it partially for the community it serves, mostly for the incredibly positive and warm vibes I got from everyone there.

Cristian Garcia-Bardina, MD
Ponce Health Sciences University School of Medicine
Hey everyone! I'm Cristian García-Bardina, from Ponce, Puerto Rico. Having lived on an island it’s only fair that I prefer warm weather and outdoor activities like tennis, fútbol or beach volleyball. Other that the outdoors, you'll often find me experimenting in the kitchen or having epic board game battles with my girlfriend.
Now, let's talk about my not-so-secret obsession: coffee. I have a borderline unhealthy fixation with crafting the perfect espresso. From grinding the beans to achieving that velvety crema, it's a ritual that brings me peace and joy.
As for my upcoming adventure, I couldn't be more excited about moving to New England and beginning my training at Baystate. The decision was an easy one, thanks to the warm and welcoming environment I experienced during my interview.
So, here's to new beginnings and endless cups of espresso. I can't wait to see what the future holds!

Fun fact--I fostered cats during medical school and would love to have a pet of my own soon.
While I moved to the Midwest for medical school, I’m still a New England girl at heart and am happy to come home and train at Baystate! Everyone I met during my away rotations was incredibly kind and supportive. I love the energy at Baystate, and I can’t wait to start residency here!

Diagnosed with Marfan syndrome at age 2, I've learned resilience and developed a passion for healthcare, leading me to Tufts University School of Medicine for my medical studies.

On that note, I can’t wait to find out what the New England hiking trails have to offer. Recently, my favorite book has been The Power of the Habit, it is a good book and a fast read. It teaches you about how to get rid about your bad habits although it has been a challenge to me to implement them. If you see me screaming do not be scared, it is most likely due to soccer, because I am huge soccer fan only during the World Cup. I am very excited to see that the next World Cup I may be able to see it in Boston.

Chidubem Ezenna, MD
All Saints University College of Medicine
Hi there! My name is Chidubem. You can call me Galen if it is easier. I was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. I completed my undergrad in Biochemistry at the University of Lagos, then traveled to a beautiful Caribbean island to complete my medical training.
Outside medicine, I love cooking, drawing celebrities, working out, playing chess, and traveling. I have traveled to and lived in 4 different countries.
I chose Baystate for many reasons, including the diverse patient population and pathologies, the supportive and warm-hearted nature of the faculty members I experienced during my interview, and the great camaraderie amongst the residents. My professional interests include a cardiology fellowship.
I am grateful and excited to be part of the Baystate family and look forward to meeting everyone.

Jason Galloway, MD
Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
Hi, my name is Jason. I’m originally from Ohio but have lived in many places over the years, and am starting my third career (previously chemical engineer and computer programmer/consultant). I did undergrad (twice) at Ohio State and attended medical school at Geisel. Family is important to me - my wife Jennifer, 10 year old son William, mother-in-law Shirley, and our cat Choo-Choo, AKA The Chooch - but I also greatly value a friendly, supportive working environment, which is one of the reasons we chose Baystate. But also we love New England and are excited to be coming to western Massachusetts!

Jakob Hama, MD
St. George's University School of Medicine
Hello! I’m Jakob Hama, and I’m originally from Long Island, New York. I completed my undergraduate studies at Mount Saint Mary College, where I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry. I went on to attend medical school at St. George’s University. I’m incredibly grateful and excited to be part of the Baystate family and to continue my medical training here. I have a strong passion for cardiology and will be pursuing a fellowship in the field.
Outside of medicine, I love traveling with my wife. In addition to our international adventures, we’ve set a goal to visit all 50 states before we turn 35. As a former athlete, I’ve always enjoyed sports, but these days you’ll more often find me playing pickleball, golf, or a competitive game of cornhole. When I’m relaxing at home, I usually have a documentary on, typically something about history, nature, or aviation. I am never one to miss a great meal, I love Pizza Friday and fresh seafood.

Justin Hassani, DO
Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Virginia Campus
Hi everyone! My name is Justin. I’m from Bethesda, Maryland. I went to the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Virginia for medical school and am beyond excited to share this new chapter of my life with all of you!
During my free time I love to play soccer, run, lift weights, and play tennis. Music is also another passion of mine. I play both acoustic and electric guitar and recently bought a keyboard this year!
During my interview trail, Baystate stood out to me because of the camaraderie I felt amongst the faculty. I look forward to working with you all soon!

Kevin Jamouss, MD
University of Balamand
Hello everyone! I’m originally from Lebanon – a hidden gem in the Middle East! There, I completed and received my BS in Medical Laboratory Sciences and MD from the University of Balamand. I then relocated to the United States as a postdoctoral research fellow at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and worked on exploring the underlying molecular alterations behind neoplastic progression in pancreatic cancer and on characterizing the changes in the tumor immune microenvironment of its precursor lesions.
I’m also a multi-instrumental musician and co-founder/drummer of the band WonderGaap (Do check us out!). In my free time, you’ll either find me at the nearest driving range/course playing golf and enjoying beautiful sceneries or at the local movie theater!
Baystate was love at first sight - the familial, supportive, and welcoming atmosphere meant everything to me, and I look forward to spending the next three years learning and growing with this family!

Samia Nadeem, MD
Shifa College of Medicine
Hey everyone, I'm Samia Nadeem. Though I was born in seaside Karachi, I grew up in the freezing climates of Winnipeg, Canada. After high school I moved back to Pakistan for medical school in the beautiful mountainous capital city of Islamabad. This is where I developed my love for hiking. I'm always down for a good hike and willing to conquer any terrain for scenic views. I'm a huge sports fan and always looking to partake in pick-up games; anything from Ultimate Frisbee to Basketball. I also enjoy watching soccer and play Fantasy Premier League quite competitively. The Office is my favorite TV show and I enjoy watching movies with a group of friends. If we're watching something together, I'm most likely to suggest something from the 'Horror' genre. I look forward to exploring the New England area, especially in Autumn, and make lasting friendships during my time at Baystate!

Andrew Ng, MD
St. George's Hospital Medical School
Hello! I was born and raised just outside of Toronto, Ontario. I completed my undergraduate degree at York University and then went to medical school at St. George's, University of London. I moved overseas to Cyprus for the first two years of medical school then I moved to Chicago for my final two clinical years of medical school. Besides medicine, I like walking to new areas and thinking about the different ways people live life. I sometimes find writing and making videos very therapeutic as well. Lastly, I try to stay active at the gym, am a bit of a foody, and love all sorts of television and films. I was drawn to Baystate due to its wealth of opportunities and exposure to a great diversity of medical conditions as a large academic hospital. I am honored to be able to begin this part of my journey at Baystate.

Pranav Ramamurthy, MD
M.S. Ramaiah Medical College
Hi, I’m Pranav Ramamurthy. Born in Albany NY, I grew up in Acton MA before moving back to Bangalore, India, to complete my high school and medical school.
I am a huge Boston sports fan and love to play basketball and tennis. I also love the outdoors, especially when the weather is cold, making western Massachusetts the perfect location for me! I am a long-time fan of rock and metal music, which grew from me playing electric and bass guitar since I was a teenager. I am also an avid reader and veteran video gamer. I am an inquisitive person by nature and love solving puzzles and am an enthusiastic quizzer. I am always looking to learn new skills and apply them to my personal and professional life.
I can’t wait to start these three years of learning and growing as a physician.

Prasana Ramesh, MD
K.A.P. Vishwanathan Government Medical College
Hi! I am Prasana Ramesh. I grew up in the southern part of India in a city called Coimbatore famous for cotton and kongu Tamil, the most ancient language in the world. I am an outdoors person with a strong interest in sports. Soccer is my heartbeat! I am the happiest when I play. My other hobbies include traveling and driving. I am so glad that my journey has brought me to Baystate and thrilled to see what the New England region has to offer! Among the various reasons, this program's welcoming leadership and culture stood out to me. I am excited to be a part of this new chapter! I aspire to become a cardiologist and an advocate for underserved people.

Mawra Rehman, MD
Shifa College of Medicine
Hey! My name is Mawra Rehman. I was born and raised in Pakistan and graduated from Shifa College of Medicine in Islamabad. I enjoy binge watching both new and old tv shows (love my Gilmore girls), enjoy reading fantasy novels, and constantly annoying my husband. I am also currently exploring a newfound passion in cooking and slowly but surely getting better.
I am very passionate about the world of medicine and could not be more excited about being here at Baystate.
Can’t wait to meet and work with everyone!

Shaber Seraj, DO
New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine
Hey everyone! My name is Shaber Seraj and I was born and raised in Albany, NY. I attended the University at Albany for my undergraduate studies and NYITCOM for medical school.
Outside of medicine I enjoy playing basketball and working out. My clinical interests are wide, but I am leaning toward pursuing fellowship in cardiology/critical care.
I am excited to start my training at Baystate Medical Center!

Tyler Steve, DO
Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine-Virginia Campus
Hello! I am excited to move north to Massachusetts! I was born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia and attended JMU undergrad, EMU post-bac and VCOM-VA medical school. I’m moving with my girlfriend, who is also training at Baystate in the OB/GYN department. I’ve been told I have ‘diarrhea of the mouth’; it just keeps running, which is why my favorite thing to do at work is chit-chat with my patients. I am an old soul to my core, which is how I earned the nickname, “Gramps.” My hobbies include golfing, bird watching, reading non-fiction, and watching CBS’ 60 Minutes. My ideal day is waking up in a countryside house in France, watching birds, eating a croissant, and then gardening. Since I don’t own property in France, this dream will have to wait! I’m excited to begin my training at Baystate and plan to bring southern hospitality to the north!
