What attracted you to Baystate Medical Center?
I was actually born at Baystate! Baystate has always been one of my top residency choices. I absolutely love the atmosphere here and was impressed by the wide variety of rotations that the program provides. I enjoyed every area of pharmacy that I experienced on my APPEs, so I wanted a residency program that would expose me to many different specialties. I’m also really excited about the wellness and resiliency longitudinal experience!

What is your favorite thing about living in the area?
Living in Western Mass for most of my life I love all the mountains, lakes and outdoor activities around here! My favorite event in Western Mass is the BigE which is a huge fair with food, concerts, events, animals and shopping that lasts for 3 weeks in the fall.

What are you most excited for this year?
I’m most excited to expand my clinical knowledge and leadership skills! I’m really excited to spend this year with my amazing co-residents!

What attracted you to Baystate Medical Center?
I was initially attracted to Baystate Medical Center because the pharmacy program offered a wide variety of rotations and experiences that aligned with my ideal PGY1 program. I absolutely loved watching the recruitment video that introduced the people and the program. It was a brilliant method that demonstrated the positive culture and the welcoming ambience of the program. The resident wellness rotation also attracted me because it is a unique rotation that speaks highly of work-life balance for the residents.

What is your favorite thing about living in the area?

Love the calming breeze in New England, which we definitely do not get as often in the summer times in Texas. Absolutely looking forward to the fall foliage, trees of all colors! It’s also driving distance to New York City, Boston and Cape Cod, which I love!

What are you most excited for this year?
Resident Resilient Rotation with my co-residents! Moreover, the opportunity to develop the skills needed to be a well-rounded pharmacist through the various rotations that Baystate has to offer and being able work alongside a wide variety of clinical staff to positively impact patient care.

What attracted you to Baystate Medical Center?

While researching residency programs, I was initially attracted to Baystate Medical Center because of the opportunities and rotations offered, in addition to the fact that it is an academic medical center and level one trauma center. After interviewing and talking to preceptors and current residents, I instantly felt a connection to the program and the people. Pharmacy is so well integrated into the healthcare culture at Baystate. The teams are always inclusive and value the pharmacist's input. It is a great place to learn and grow as a new pharmacist!

What is your favorite thing about living in the area?
I have lived in Massachusetts my whole life but have never visited western Massachusetts before. I still have a lot to explore, but so far I really enjoy the scenery, especially the mountains. I am looking forward to hiking and doing more outdoor activities, especially during the fall. Springfield is in a very central area that allows for travel to Boston, Cape Cod, Connecticut, New York, and many other places which is great for weekends trips. Also, I am looking forward to trying all new restaurants nearby.

What are you most excited for this year?
Everything! I am excited to practice in an academic medical center alongside leaders in the profession and medical field and to learn more about areas of pharmacy that I have had minimal exposure to. I am also excited to work alongside all the amazing preceptors and my wonderful co-residents.

What attracted you to Baystate Medical Center?I was attracted to Baystate Medical Center based on how diverse the residency curriculum is. I wanted my PGY1 residency to offer a wide range of required and elective rotations in a variety of areas. My goal was to complete a residency that would help me become a well-rounded pharmacist with the ability to practice in a variety of areas. I also liked the longitudinal experiences that Baystate had to offer, such as the longitudinal clinic experiences. I also was attracted to Baystate because both cardiology and infectious diseases are required rotations. These are areas I didn't gain as much exposure as I would have liked to as a student, so I appreciated that the program included these areas and provided me with an opportunity to build on my skills. I also loved how welcome I felt during the residency interview! I felt like I could connect well with the people in my interview and it seemed like a natural fit for me.

What is your favorite thing about living in the area?
My favorite thing about living in the area is the close proximity to both rural and urban areas. I appreciate being able to go home and live in a more rural, quiet area that's right next to the mountains. At the same time, I love that Boston is a short drive away and I have the opportunity to plan weekend trips there whenever I'd like without a lot of planning. I also grew up in New England and love all the seasons.

What are you most excited for this year? All of the learning and growth from start to finish of residency! I'm excited to learn from the preceptors here and make a positive impact on patient care.

What attracted you to Baystate Medical Center?
I was initially attracted to Baystate because of how friendly and welcoming everyone was when I interviewed. I truly felt comfortable and felt like I could be myself. The preceptors are well invested in the success of the residents. Also, the pharmacy department is highly respected throughout the entire hospital which is encouraging, since it can be intimidating being a new pharmacist at an unfamiliar health system.  I feel supported and am excited to experience the wide variety of rotations our residency offers.

What is your favorite thing about living in the area?

My favorite thing about living in the area is having new restaurants to try! I am also looking forward to going to The Big E fair this fall in Springfield which I've never been to before! Lastly, Springfield is located in a great central location of New England; just a few hours from Boston and Hartford.

What are you most excited for this year?
I am most excited to work with my amazing co-residents throughout the year, as well as learning from all our highly experienced preceptors. I am eager to see how my clinical and leadership skills progress throughout my rotations. I also am excited to be able to participate in opportunities in academia and to help precept pharmacy students, since this is one of my passions!
