Baystate Hospice was recently awarded a 4-star family caregiver rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) based on patient and family experience survey outcomes.

CMS publicly reports quality of care provided by hospices and other healthcare providers through the Care Compare website. Data collected and reported by CMS is acquired from hospice providers through stringent reporting requirements and patient and family satisfaction surveys. Findings from the data collected are utilized to determine an overall family caregiver experience rating and a quality index score for Medicare-certified hospice organizations. The family caregiver experience rating is given on a scale of 1 to 5, and the CMS quality index score is based on a scale of 1 to 10.

“Patients’ quality of life and supporting our patients and families during these very difficult times are our highest priority 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,” says Hospice Clinical Manager, Amy Cherry-Hathaway.

In addition, CMS awarded Baystate Hospice a hospice quality index score of 9 out of 10 based on specific, mandated quality data that is collected, exceeding the national average of quality index scores for all hospice providers across the country.
