Clinical Conferences and Specialty Group Meetings

Weekly Conferences

  • Endocrine Grand Rounds: These are held biweekly between 12:00-1:00pm on Tuesdays
  • Board Review: These are held between 1:15 –2:00 pm Tuesdays.
  • Clinical Case Conference: Biweekly meets between 12:00-1:00pm.
  • Summer Survival Series and Core Curriculum Conferences: Held between July and October where faculty and fellows discuss common endocrine emergencies and topics to help incoming fellows adapt to the fellowship.

Monthly Conferences

  • Tumor Board: Held on Tuesdays between 4:00-5:15 pm. Multidisciplinary meeting attended by Fellows, Endocrine Faculty, Endocrine Surgery, Cytopathology and Radiology.
  • Clinical Journal Club and Clinical Practice Guidelines: Held Tuesdays between 1:00-2:00 pm

Quarterly conferences

  • Pathology conference: Conducted with Cytopathology and Endocrine faculty where we review cytology of Thyroid FNA and Operative Endocrine Pathology.
  • Pituitary conference: Multidisciplinary conference between Neurosurgery, Endocrine faculty, fellows and residents.

Annual Conferences/Lectureships

Dr. Louis A. Izenstein Visiting Professorship and Lectures in Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism (Est 1996)

This fund provides resources to bring nationally and internationally renowned figures in the field of diabetes, metabolism or obesity to Baystate Medical Center to share research that has or will significantly advance the prevention or treatment of such disorders. Started by Dr. Louis Izenstein 's family upon his death in 1996 to honor his memory this fund celebrates the visionary who developed an academic department of Medicine with a special focus on the development of high-level faculty and state-of-the-art management of diabetes.

National Conferences

Fellows are encouraged to attend and present at national conferences. Educational funds are available for this. We encourage the fellows to join regional and national professional societies and attend outside educational opportunities. Our faculty attend several major national meetings such as the ADA, ATA, Endocrine Society and AACE.

Our Fellows have attended and presented at National fellow specific conferences like the Adrenal Preceptorship hosted by Endocrine Fellows Foundation

Fellows get dedicated time to attending Endocrine University.

In addition, Fellows get CME time and allowance that they can choose to use to present at Conferences.
