Our radiologists provide 24/7 radiology coverage at our hospitals and work closely with your medical team to ensure seamless care.
Reducing radiation exposure
Our team is dedicated to imaging wisely and safely. Our medical physicist committee and radiation dose committee review our procedures to ensure we keep radiation exposure to our patients as low as reasonably achievable (ALARA).
Residency program in diagnostic radiology
Many members of our radiology department faculty have an academic appointment with UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate. Each is actively involved in teaching within our residency program in diagnostic radiology and our 4th year elective in diagnostic radiology.
Many of our residents are active in research and subspecialize in:
- Cardiac imaging
- Interventional radiology (these specialists perform minimally invasive procedures using imaging guidance.)
- Mammography
- Neurology
- Nuclear medicine
- Ultrasound
Radiologic technologists
Our radiologic technologists support radiologists during imaging exams. During many procedures, your technologist will be by your side to explain each step of the exam.
Our technologists provide clinical training to technology students at Springfield Technical Community College. Their training programs create an atmosphere that promotes learning and the critical evaluation of what we do.
