Appointments & Instructions

First, you will need a referral to Pain Management. Once we've received a referral from your physician, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. Your first visit will be a telephone visit with a registered nurse to review your pain history, medical history and medications. The nurse will then schedule you to see a Pain Management physician.

Be sure to:

  • Bring all radiology test results with you for the first visit (i.e. films, MRI's, CT scans). If you're a Baystate Health patient, you can access these through the MyBaystate patient portal
  • Bring a current list of all the medications you are taking.

We participate in most insurance programs offered in our area, including Medicare, Medicaid, Health New England, HealthNet, Tufts, HMO Blue, the Aetna Plans, the City of Springfield Plans, Mass Mutual Preferred Plus, Blue Shield and Workman's Compensation.

If you have any questions about whether your specific health plan covers our services, please call the toll-free number on the back of your insurance member ID card.

Baystate Pain Management Center's charges have two components:

  1. Facility charge: this covers charges for your visit and any procedure
  2. Provider charge: this covers the fee for the provider which is billed by Springfield Anesthesia Services, Inc.
If your plan requires a co-payment, please be prepared to pay for this at the time of your visit.
