High Street Health Center Closed

The Baystate High Street Health Center, located at 140 High St in Springfield, is currently closed due to a broken water pipe. Providers are reaching out to patients impacted by this closure. Patients should continue to call (413) 794-2511 for care needs, including telehealth. All other provider sites and clinics are open.

Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Curriculum

We emphasize the physiologic basis and clinical application of mechanical ventilation, physiologic and metabolic profiles, nutritional support, antimicrobial therapy, electrolyte balance, trauma pathophysiology, invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring, ICP monitoring and therapy, acid-base chemistry, pulmonary physiology, ethics, and computerized application of scoring systems.

Subspecialty fellows will receive comprehensive training in all facets of inpatient medical and surgical ICU, trauma, and cardiac intensive care.

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Internal Medicine and Medicine-Pediatrics residents
  • Emergency Medicine residents
  • Anesthesia residents
  • Medical students from Tufts Medical School and UMMS rotating through the ICU

Rotations

First Year

  • MICU: 5 months
  • SICU: 1 month
  • Anesthesia: 1 month
  • Cardiac ICU: 1 month
  • Electives*: 4 months

Second Year

  • MICU: 5 months
  • SICU: 1 month
  • Cardiac ICU: 1 month
  • Electives*: 5 months

*Electives may include: pulmonary, nephrology/dialysis, infectious diseases, echocardiography, pediatric critical care, research, and others.
