- Division Chief of Health Equity and Health Services Research
The Department of Healthcare Delivery and Population Sciences (DHDPS) at the UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate (UMass Chan-Baystate) seeks an inaugural Chief for the newly established Division of Health Equity and Health Services Research. The successful candidate will be a physician with a demonstrated track record of research, teaching, mentoring, and program development. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the growth of research, education, and service programs within a new medical school and health system department. Resources will be available for the inaugural Chief to build on existing strengths, recruit and support new faculty, and achieve national prominence for the division. Candidate should have credentials supportive of an appointment at the Associate or Full Professor level.
Position Highlights:
• Serve as a member of the Departmental leadership team, with shared responsibility for strategic planning, policy and process development, budgeting, appointments and promotions, and human resources. Recruit, supervise and retain research-oriented faculty to create and grow new division.
• Collaborate with other investigators within the Department and from UMass Chan-Baystate on the development and execution of grants and contracts. Represent the Department as a member of Health System, Medical School, and External committees.
• Collaborate with Baystate Health clinical leaders to develop and implement programs to improve health equity in the communities we serve.
• Maintain an independently funded research program focused on issues related to health services research and healthy equity.
Qualifications: ABMS Board Certified Physician. Completion of advanced research training and/or PhD. Maintain an independently funded research program. Success as a mentor of students, residents and fellows, and junior faculty.

The Department of Healthcare Delivery and Population Sciences (DHDPS) at the UMass Chan Medical School – Baystate (UMass Chan-Baystate) seeks clinician-investigators with broad interests in health services research, implementation science, comparative effectiveness research, health disparities, and shared decision making. The DHDPS offers an intellectually stimulating and nurturing environment characterized by an interdisciplinary team of successful scientists spanning different career stages, outstanding mentorship, access to large, well-curated data sets, highly skilled data analysts and research support staff. UMass Chan-Baystate is a regional campus of the UMass Chan Medical School as well as an affiliate of the Tufts University School of Medicine/Tufts CTSI, DHDPS. UMass Chan-Baystate trainees benefit from the resources of both of these partner institutions, including access to grant funding through TL-1 and T32 training programs. Baystate Health is a fully integrated health care delivery system located in Springfield, Massachusetts, comprised of 4 acute care hospitals including the flagship Baystate Medical Center, a moderate sized health insurance plan, a large network of employed physicians providing care at over 85 practice locations, including 3 community health centers.
The Pioneer Valley region of Western Massachusetts is known for its natural beauty, diversity and progressive-mindedness, plethora of colleges and universities, numerous cultural offerings (music, theater, dance), and superb dining. The area provides access to terrific road and mountain biking, hiking, swimming, and cross country and downhill skiing. The public-school system is strong and many independent options exist as well.
