Mission

Baystate Women in Medicine and Science (BWIMS) are physicians, faculty, advanced clinical providers, and scientists who identify as women at Baystate Health. BWIMS serves as an institutional resource by providing a forum to promote policies, practices, and programs that support women’s organizational advancement.

Goals

  • Promote academic and leadership advancement of physicians, faculty, advanced clinical providers, and scientists who identify as women
  • Optimize the recruitment and retention of diverse talent
  • Ensure access to effective mentors and opportunities for skill development

The Office of Faculty Affairs at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate and Baystate Health’s Medical Staff Office supports BWIMS.

BWIMS Impact Award

The BWIMS Impact Award honors women faculty and medical staff members who have demonstrated excellence in institutional service, health care delivery, education, and/or research.

BWIMS Scholarship

The Baystate Women in Medicine and Science (BWIMS) Professional Development Scholarship is a monetary award to help providers who identify as women to advance their academic careers and/or organizational leadership.

AAMC GWIMS provides information about professional development opportunities including their Early and Mid-Career Women Faculty Leadership development seminars.
