Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program Directors' Message

Congratulations on reaching this milestone in your careers!

Baystate's Med-Peds residency is one of the premier combined medicine-pediatrics programs in the country. Since our founding in 1983 we have trained more than 180 residents—most of our graduates are currently caring for both adults and children.

Our innovative ambulatory and inpatient curriculum makes our program an exceptional environment in which to train. And, we continue to flourish because of the commitment from Baystate's leaders and the ongoing support of our department chairs.

It is our privilege to be your colleagues, teachers, and mentors.

Through your four years with us, we will also become friends, family. You will inspire us with your commitment to excellence in the care of patients, and by your enrichment of intellectual life here at Baystate.

Our Philosophy

Treasure Medicine as a Vocation.

It's a unique privilege and honor to serve people, especially in their most vulnerable moments.

Be Passionate About your Education.

Develop a commitment to life-long learning with your patients and colleagues. This is vital for your continued professional growth and satisfaction.

Learn From Every Patient

Learn about the biology, presentation, and evolution of your patients' illnesses. But also learn about the impact illness has on their personal lives, and about their unique talents, stories and circumstances.

Find Inteside of Medicine.

Be there for your family and find time to make the soccer games and date nights. They afford pleasure, sanity, and health—and will help to keep you energized.

Commitment to Addressing Racism in Medicine and Medical Education

We value the unique contributions of all of our residents and are working towards making this a supportive environment for all residents to learn and grow.

To this end, we are actively addressing racism in medicine through morning reports, academic half days, and grand rounds; the Be The Change: Anti-Racist Working Group; and our Social Justice Track for Internal Medicine and Medicine-Pediatrics Residents.

We are also committed to addressing microaggressions in the clinical setting with our robust curriculum across Internal Medicine, Medicine-Pediatrics, and the Pediatrics Residency programs. We are continuously growing these initiatives—we invite you to learn more about our institution's diversity and inclusion initiatives.

We Invite You to Discover if Baystate is Right for You
