Adult Psychiatric Treatment Unit

Baystate Medical Center provides inpatient treatment for patients ages 18 and older with psychiatric disorders in a safe, secure setting.

Short-term specialized treatment is provided by a multidisciplinary team. They use a problem-oriented approach tailored to the needs of the individual. Our team consists of a psychiatrist, a physician assistant, psychiatric nurses, psychiatric social workers and master's prepared specialists, occupational and recreational therapists and unit counselors.

We offer individual, group, and family therapy. There is a full range of biological treatments available, including pharmacotherapy and electroconvulsive therapy. We also offer on-site neuropsychological testing and advanced diagnostic evaluation. Medical, neurological and other consultations are available.

The facilities are licensed to accommodate both voluntary and involuntary patients. Psychiatric coverage is available seven days a week.
