Application Process
Baystate Medical Center’s Emergency Medicine Residency Program accepts applications through the ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) program of the American Association of Medical Colleges. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).

- We review ERAS applications daily. If your application is accepted, you’ll receive an interview invitation from us via an email from Thalamus GME.
Appointment Requirements
All applicants must fulfill our Resident & Fellow Appointment Requirements.
In addition, you’ll need:
- USMLE scores and/or COMLEX scores
- Personal statement
- 3 letters of recommendation
- Transcripts must be in ERAS
Institutional Policy on Visa Status
If you are a foreign national, you must enter the United States on an appropriate visa and maintain appropriate visa status throughout your training.
We sponsor residents and fellows on J-1 visas through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Read our Resident Visas Policy.
Interviews
Virtual Interviewing
Consistent with recommendations from the AAMC and the ACGME, UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate GME programs will conduct interviews virtually for all applicants.
