Applying to the Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship

Application Process

Thank you for your interest in the Endocrinology, Diabetes, & Metabolism Fellowship Program at UMass Chan-Baystate Program. All applicants must apply online through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service). For the upcoming fellowship application cycle, our program will use program signaling. While we will accept all applications, we encourage applicants that are sincerely interested in our program to send us a signal.

We have 2 fellowship spots available for the upcoming fellowship cycle.

Timeline

We will begin reviewing applications submitted through ERAS starting July when the application cycle opens. Applicants that are selected for an interview with be notified via email from our Fellowship Coordinator.

We will conduct interviews starting from August through October/November.

Interviews will be conducted virtually using one of the platforms—Zoom, Webex or Thalamus. We look forward to reviewing your application!

Applicants must submit:

  • ERAS application
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Medical School Transcripts
  • Personal Statement
  • Photograph
  • Letter of recommendation from your Program Director
  • Two additional letters of recommendation (if you are not currently in a training program, one of the letters should be from your current position)
  • USMLE /COMLEX scores
  • ECFMG certificate 

Application Requirements 

Prior to matriculation to fellowship training at Baystate Medical Center, all incoming fellows must have:

  • Previously certified in Internal Medicine or Internal Medicine-Pediatrics or eligible to take the Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics exam
  • Passed the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX—USA Level 3 examination
  • All fellowship candidates must fulfill Baystate's Resident/Fellow Appointment Requirements.

Institutional Policy on Visa Status

J-1 Visas

Baystate Medical Center sponsors J-1 Visas through ECFMG for applicants who are eligible for appointment to a residency or fellowship position.

UMass Chan-Baystate sponsors J-1 Alien Physician visas for its ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs. Dependents on J-2 visas are also accepted, provided they hold a valid Employment Authorization Document (EAD). The ECFMG serves as the sole sponsor for J-1 and J-2 physicians in graduate medical education programs and oversees all related requirements. Both J-1 and J-2 physicians must comply with ECFMG regulations throughout the duration of their training.
