Infectious Disease Fellowship Program Director's Message

Infectious Disease Fellowship Program Director's Message

I would like to welcome you to the infectious diseases fellowship program at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate. Thank you for your interest!

Our program offers excellent training in the infectious diseases subspecialty. We are proud of our fellow-centric and supportive approach to teaching, our readily available and dedicated 11-member faculty, and the rich clinical experience that we provide at our large tertiary hospital.

We also have robust programs related to other aspects of the infectious disease practice such as, antimicrobial stewardship, infection control, advanced microbiology laboratory, quality improvement, and clinical research.

We care about each fellow’s overall well-being, and adjust learning experiences to better individual career goals. You will meet regularly with our teaching faculty to discuss clinical infectious disease topics as part of the curriculum, and also with microbiology for case-based learning and hands–on experience.

UMass Chan-Baystate and the ID fellowship program consider teaching by fellows to be integral to our educational system, and an important skill for teaching peers, residents, and students in healthcare.

Our interdisciplinary academic conferences—held weekly in various formats—include clinical case presentation, HIV conference, journal club presentations, and research conference.

We support our fellows to attend national ID conferences and to participate in a variety of training activities in many aspects of the ID practice within and outside our institution.

I invite you to explore our program and strongly consider applying if it best fits your career goals. Do not hesitate to contact us with any questions.
