Application Process
All applicants must apply online through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service).

Applicants must submit:
- ERAS Application
- Curriculum Vitae
- Medical School Transcripts
- Personal Statement
- Photograph
- Program Director Letter of Recommendation
- Three Additional Letters of Recommendation (if not currently in a training program, one letter must be from your current supervisor/director)
- USMLE /COMLEX Scores
- ECFMG Certificate, if applicable
Expressions of interest:
- We use ERAS signals as part of our holistic review process
- We review "New England" geographic preference and "No Preference" applications
- Signaling our program does not guarantee an interview
- Signaling our program is not a requirement for an interview invitation
- Signals are not considered when creating the rank list after interviews are complete
- Emails of interest are not considered in the application process and due the volume we receive will not receive a response
Applicant Requirements
All applicants must fulfill our Resident & Fellow Appointment Requirements.
In addition, prior to appointment to training at Baystate Medical Center, fellows must:
- Complete an ACGME-accredited program in Internal Medicine, Internal Medicine–Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine
- Passed the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX-USA Level 3 examination
Institutional Policy on Visa Status
If you are a foreign national, you must enter the United States on an appropriate visa and maintain appropriate visa status throughout your training.
We sponsor residents and fellows on J-1 visas through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Read our Resident Visas Policy.
Virtual Interviewing
Interviews will be conducted virtually using one of the chosen platforms—Zoom, Webex or Thalamus.
In-person second look visit invitations are offered to all interviewees after our rank list is locked and submitted.
