Study Title: Mammary Epithelium Permeability, Lactation Outcomes, and Infant Health

Purpose: The purpose of this research is to learn about the factors that contribute to a new parent’s milk supply and how the milk supply affects the baby. Specifically, we want to determine how differences in the composition of breast milk are related to milk supply, breast inflammation, and infant health.

Eligibility

Inclusion Criteria:

  • Planning to deliver at Baystate Medical Center
  • Planning to breast feed at least 2 months
  • Mothers are within weeks 37-40 of pregnancy
