Applying to the Psychiatry Residency
Application Process
The Psychiatry Residency Program at UMass Chan Medical School-Baystate participates in the ERAS Program for the residency application process. To obtain information about an application for our program, visit the ERAS website.
- Applications received by mail will not be accepted.
- The deadline for the receipt of the ERAS application is December 15th.
- Upon receipt of the application, it will be reviewed and an invitation for an interview will be extended by e-mail to selected qualified applicants.
Application Requirements
All applicants must fulfill our Resident & Fellow Appointment Requirements.
In addition, you'll need:
- Completed Common ERAS Application Form
- Curriculum Vitae
- Dean's Letter
- Transcript
- Personal Statement
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation
- USMLE Step 1 and 2/COMLEX-USA Level 1 and 2 scores. No minimum score requirement. Must have passed by second attempt. (Step 2 or Level 2 must be available by February)
- Photo (optional)
Institutional Policy on Visa Status
If you are a foreign national, you must enter the United States on an appropriate visa and maintain appropriate visa status throughout your training.
We sponsor residents and fellows on J-1 visas through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Read our Resident Visas Policy.
Interviews
Virtual Interviewing
Consistent with recommendations from the AAMC and the ACGME, UMass Chan-Baystate GME programs will conduct interviews virtually for all applicants.
