Application Process
- Applicants must complete the Standardized Application for Pathology Fellowships
- The Cytopathology Fellowship Program applicant is required to submit the following when applying:
- Completed application
- Current CV
- Personal statement
- 3 letters of recommendation
- USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3 scores or COMLEX-USA Levels 1, 2 and 3 scores
Submission Deadline
Applications should be submitted in full by April 1 of the year prior to the start of the fellowship to:

Timeline
We are proudly participating in the American Society of Cytopathology (ASC) unified recruitment timeline for cytopathology fellowship programs.
- July-August: Applications Reviewed
- August-October: Virtual Interviews
- Earliest Offer Date: October 3
Appointment Requirements
All applicants must fulfill our Resident & Fellow Appointment Requirements.
In addition, prior to matriculation to fellowship training at Baystate Medical Center, all incoming fellows must have:
- Completion of a 4 year ACGME-accredited AP/CP Pathology Program or 3 year AP Pathology Program.
- Passed the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX-USA Level 3 examination.
Institutional Policy on Visa Status
If you are a foreign national, you must enter the United States on an appropriate visa and maintain appropriate visa status throughout your training.
We sponsor residents and fellows on J-1 visas through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Read our Resident Visas Policy.
Interviews
Virtual Interviewing
Interviews will be conducted virtually using one of the chosen platforms—Zoom, Webex or Thalamus.
