Applying to the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship

Our Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship program at UMass Chan-Baystate is actively recruiting applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to reflect the patient population we serve. We welcome candidates of all religions, races, ethnicities, genders, backgrounds, and orientations.

Application Process

  • The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at UMass Chan-Baystate participates in the ERAS Program for the fellowship application process. To obtain information about an application, visit the ERAS website.
  • Applications received by mail will not be accepted.
  • Deadline for the receipt of the ERAS application is September 30.
  • Upon receipt of the application, it will be reviewed and an invitation for an interview will be extended by e-mail to selected qualified applicants.

Application Requirements

All applicants must fulfill our Resident & Fellow Appointment Requirements.

In addition:

  • Completed Common ERAS Application Form
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Program Director's letter with training attestation 
  • Transcript
  • Personal Statement
  • Two-three (3) letters of recommendation
  • USMLE Step 1 and 2/COMLEX-USA Level 1 and 2 scores. No minimum score requirement. Must have passed by second attempt.
  • Passed the USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX-USA Level 3 examination.
  • Photo (optional)

Institutional Policy on Visa Status

If you are a foreign national, you must enter the United States on an appropriate visa and maintain appropriate visa status throughout your training.

We sponsor residents and fellows on J-1 visas through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG). Read our Resident Visas Policy.

Virtual Interviewing

Interviews will be conducted virtually using one of the chosen platforms—Zoom, Webex or Thalamus.
