Baystate Health Announces Melonie R. Jackson as New Chief People Officer

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Baystate Health is pleased to announce that Melonie R. Jackson will join the organization as Chief People Officer (CPO), effective Monday, March 31. As CPO, Jackson will lead Baystate Health’s human resources strategy, focusing on attracting, developing, and retaining a highly skilled and engaged workforce that aligns with the organization’s Mission and Vision. She will oversee initiatives in leadership development, talent recruitment and retention, employee engagement, workforce wellness, and labor strategy. Additionally, Jackson will foster a culture of inclusion and continuous improvement across Baystate Health, the major employer and economic and health pillar in Western Massachusetts.

With more than 20 years of experience as a human resources executive, Jackson brings a wealth of expertise in healthcare, finance, and technology. Prior to joining Baystate Health, she served as Vice President of Human Resources at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), the largest non-governmental employer in Pennsylvania. In this role, she was responsible for HR strategy across nine hospitals in Pennsylvania and New York. Jackson successfully led workforce transformation initiatives, enhanced talent acquisition, and implemented programs that strengthened workplace culture and increased employee engagement.

Her extensive experience also includes leadership roles at Corewell Health (formerly Spectrum Health System) in Grand Rapids, MI, and progressive HR leadership positions at Capital One, Methodist Health System, and Regions Bank. Jackson’s expertise in HR strategy and workforce analytics will suppot Baystate Health in building the preferred destination to work and practice while continuing to elevate its clinical excellence and coordinated care across the region.

Jackson holds a Bachelor of Arts from Southeast Missouri State University, a Master of Business Administration from Texas Woman’s University, and a certificate in Executive Compensation from the Wharton Executive Education program at the University of Pennsylvania.
