Khushwant Dhaliwal, MD
Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine

Born and raised in Connecticut, I completed my undergraduate degree at Yale University and stayed in New Haven to work at a community mental health center before applying for medical school. Throughout medical school, I explored my interests in community organizing, restorative justice, and street medicine. I chose family medicine for its commitment to community-based advocacy and developing longitudinal relationships with patients.

I am looking forward to joining the Baystate system and becoming a member of the Greenfield community. During residency, I hope to foster my particular interests in women’s health, integrative medicine, and providing care for people experiencing housing insecurity.

Outside of medicine, I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking with friends, spending time outside, and making connections with local community.

UMass Chan Medical School

I grew up in Upstate New York and studied Political Science and Computer Science at Skidmore College. After my family relocated to Western Massachusetts, it became my new hometown. I spent several years working in pediatric behavioral health research at Baystate Medical Center before attending the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School, where I graduated in 2024. During medical school, I continued my research and focused on projects aimed at improving the delivery of emergency behavioral health care.

My husband and I started our family during medical school, and our little boy is our pride and joy. Becoming a mother has been a transformative experience, both personally and professionally. It has deepened my passion for supporting parental well-being at all steps of the journey from new parenthood to empty nesters. I have had the privilege of serving for two years on the Massachusetts Medical Society's Committee on Perinatal and Maternal Welfare, where I contribute to initiatives aimed at supporting the mother-infant dyad. Additionally, I am pursuing certification as a Lactation Counselor to better support parents with their feeding journey.

I have worked or studied within the Baystate system since before starting medical school, and I couldn’t imagine completing my residency anywhere else. Most of my extended family lives in the Pioneer Valley, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue my training in a place that truly feels like home. Outside of my professional life, my husband and I enjoy the simple joys of life together, such as cooking family meals and having little adventures with our son.

I was born and raised in central MA and am thrilled to be returning to Massachusetts for residency! I enjoy the small-town life that only New England can provide. When I am not studying medicine, I can likely be found outside hiking a beautiful mountain, training for my next road race or planting a garden. I always make sure I make time for my creative side too as I have been playing the piano for over 15 years and love practicing every day! I also have a special interest in nutrition and have participated in several programs related to the field including Healthy Kitchens and Health Meets Home while in medical school. My goal is to be a well-rounded family physician serving the people of rural New England and I look forward to further developing my skills.

Austin Peppers, MD
University of Utah School of Medicine

I was born and raised in Napoleon, Ohio - a small town in Northwest Ohio that claims fame for having the world's largest can of soup. Other than rolling cornfields and a Walmart off the freeway, there wasn’t much entertainment, so I grew up heavily involved in golf, basketball, and baseball. Following high school, I ended up pursuing Geology at Lake Superior State University, Michigan’s smallest public university nestled in the Upper Peninsula - a place where temperatures reach -50 degrees and there’s more animals than people. Despite this, I truly loved my time as a self-acclaimed Yooper and attribute a lot of who I am today to the UP. However, about halfway through my time at Lake State, I learned that my Mom was diagnosed with stage IV lung cancer, and to be closer to her, I made the decision to transfer to Bowling Green State University.

After some soul-searching, I changed my major from Geology to Applied Health Science with a pre-medicine focus. I also got involved in lung cancer advocacy through LUNGevity, which eventually led to time as a NIH PREP research fellow at UMass Medical School studying cancer metabolism. Following my two-year stint in Worcester, I moved to Salt Lake City to pursue my medical training at the University of Utah.

My wife, two dogs, and two-year-old son are thrilled to be moving back to Massachusetts and exploring all that the east coast has to offer. When I’m not in the clinic, my wife and I love trying a new recipe from our endless cookbook collection, checking out the microbrewery scene, spending time outside with our son and dogs, and watching college football (O-H!). I look forward to following my passions in medicine under the guidance of the world-class faculty/residents at GFMR, all the while forming a strong partnership with my patients that allows for them to live the happiest, healthiest, and fullest version of their life possible.

Daniel Staiculescu, DO
Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine

I was born in Montreal, Canada, but Massachusetts was always my home. I grew up in Plainville, before moving out west and earning my degree in biology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I then spent two years as an EMT and another two working as a research technician before medical school. At the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine, I discovered my love for longitudinal care and learned the joys of rural medicine.

Outside of medicine, I spend my time painting miniatures for tabletop games, rocking out on my drum kit, and catching up on my audiobook backlog.

After almost a decade, I am excited to return to western Massachusetts and begin the next step of my medical journey in Greenfield. This opportunity allows me to take the experiences I've gained thus far and apply them in a setting that I have such a deep connection to. With the sheer breadth of family medicine, I plan to pursue my passions in pediatrics, behavioral health, and chronic disease management while forming valuable relationships within the Greenfield community.

Maria Stevens, MD
Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University

Originally from Seattle, I earned a philosophy degree from Yale in 2006, trained one year with the US Olympic Rowing Team in Princeton, and later swapped boats for bulldozers to work in construction and demotion before becoming a personal trainer in Boston.

In 2008, I unintentionally embarked on a six-year global odyssey, hitchhiking over 30,000 km through 37 countries while living on $10 a day, and volunteering for organic farms, holistic healing centers, vegetarian kitchens, and permaculture construction projects.

In 2014 I moved to San Francisco and launched a fitness and vocational training program for individuals recovering from substance use disorder, while also contributing to research at UCSF with an emphasis on movement-based smoking cessation efforts. During the pandemic, I played a pivotal role in mobilizing 30,000 Bay Area residents into physical activity while campaigning for fitness as an essential service.

I am excited to blend lifestyle medicine with primary care, especially at the intersection of fitness, rehabilitation, and preventive health. A lifelong athlete, I train in MMA, kettlebell sport, cycling, and weightlifting. You may find me riding my motorcycle, or devouring books on health, technology, and personal finance. I am an adventurous and playful goofball with an unshakable belief in the healing power of lifestyle, movement, and committed goal setting.

I am thrilled to be joining the Greenfield family to continue my training as a family physician. My passion for family medicine encompasses a variety of interests, including social determinants of health, immigrant and refugee health, nutrition, infectious diseases, and preventive medicine. I am deeply grateful to be part of a specialty that allows me to engage in such a diverse range of health issues and to serve those who need it most.

Outside of my medical career, I enjoy teaching Zumba, reading dystopian novels, and exploring new cultural cuisines. I am beyond excited to join this amazing residency program and contribute to the well-being of the Greenfield community.

Tomás Reilly
University of Limerick School of Medicine

Hello, my name is Tomás, and I’m originally from Dublin, Ireland. I earned my undergraduate degree in Genetics and Cell Biology from Dublin City University, followed by my medical degree at the University of Limerick.

After completing my studies, I spent four years practicing medicine in Ireland, initially pursuing surgical training. During this time, I gained valuable experience in procedural care. However, my desire to build lasting relationships with patients and address a broader range of health issues inspired me to transition to family medicine, where I am now committed to delivering holistic, patient-centered care.

I’m excited to integrate the skills I developed in surgery to my family medicine practice, with a particular interest in procedural care. I’m also passionate about urology and urogynecology and aim to provide specialized support in these areas, helping patients navigate complex health challenges with empathy and skill.

Outside of medicine, I love staying active and exploring the world around me. I enjoy cycling, swimming, and have recently taken up pickleball, which helps me unwind and stay balanced amidst a busy schedule. Traveling is another passion of mine, as it allows me to experience new cultures and perspectives.

I am thrilled to be joining the new family medicine residency program in Greenfield. This opportunity will allow me to grow both personally and professionally, while contributing to the development of a vibrant and innovative program. I look forward to working alongside a talented team and serving the local community with compassionate, high-quality care.

I grew up in Peterborough, Ontario, Canada, and attended Trent University, where I was captain of the varsity lacrosse team and earned an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology. I pursued my medical education on the beautiful island of Anguilla and completed my clinical rotations in McAllen, Texas. In my free time, I enjoy browsing wool shops along the I-91 corridor, knitting cozy sweaters, hiking, reading, and spending time with my cat, Pearl. I’m thrilled to be completing my family medicine residency in the scenic Pioneer Valley, where I’m especially passionate about providing comprehensive care to patients of all ages, with a particular interest in geriatric and palliative care. I look forward to building meaningful, long-term relationships with my patients and becoming an active member of the Greenfield community.

Beth “Basil” Wichowski
West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine

Originally from NJ, medicine wasn’t my first career, it went from visual arts/photography and postproduction work to IT, to manufacturing and retail, just to name a few! I didn’t find my passion until working in an urgent care and realizing that it was where I needed to be. I moved to WV for medical school from Long Island NY, there I found a love of working in a rural setting- especially with substance use disorder and gender affirming care. I’m a very firm believer that it is never too late to change your life, especially when it helps someone to be their best, most authentic self.

I moved up here with my fiancé (Garrett), our two cats (Princess and Sudan), and plenty of house plants. I love crafting, gardening, hiking, staying physically active, and tabletop (and even some live action) RPGs.

Todd Johnson, MD
Southern Illinois University School of Medicine

I was born and raised in Belleville, IL just across the Mississippi river from St. Louis, where I attended St. Louis University, graduating in 2019 with degrees in biology and mathematics. It was during my time in the city that I discovered my passion for helping others, which led me to pursuing a career in family medicine. I studied at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine where I enjoyed learning to care for rural and underserved communities. I’m thrilled to continue my training in Greenfield where I’ll be closer to my partner, Laura, who’s studying law in Boston. Outside of medicine, I love nature and animals and am looking forward to exploring the trails around Western Massachusetts. Also, as a huge sports fan coming from St. Louis, I’m excited to be surrounded by the historic sports culture of New England.

I grew up in Ashland, Massachusetts and completed my undergraduate degree at Brandeis University in Waltham before moving to the beautiful island of Grenada for medical school. In my free time I enjoy playing ultimate frisbee, hiking, and camping. Over the past few years, I have also gotten really into board games, my favorites being Gloomhaven and Terra Mystica. I am passionate about combining medicine and lifestyle modifications to help people live their healthiest and most fulfilling lives. I am over the moon at the opportunity to continue my training in my home state, close to my loved ones in the gorgeous backdrop of Western Massachusetts.

I am originally from Wrentham, MA and received my bachelor's in biochemistry and molecular biology from Brown University. After working as a medical assistant for two years, I pursued my Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master's of Public Health at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, PA. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, Sarah, and Cavapoo therapy dog, Boulder. You will likely find me exploring new places, checking out local microbreweries and craft beers, reading a good book, or perhaps baking desserts in the kitchen. I am extremely grateful to be joining this residency and look forward to meeting you!

Nicholas Radigan, MD
UMass Chan Medical School

Originally from Canton, MA, I graduated from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, PA and worked as a research assistant in Boston before attending medical school at UMass Chan. My interest in family medicine began while working for a study called Project Viva, which focused on the longitudinal health of mothers and their children. It was the ability to work with a family unit and witness the long-term relationship with the study that made me interested in the specialty. My other medical interests include geriatric medicine, palliative care, and medical ethics. Outside of medicine, I love to hike, cook new recipes using local ingredients, collect vinyl records, and attend music festivals, especially the Newport Folk Festival. I am thrilled to relocate to Greenfield and work with the community to provide effective and humanistic primary care.
