Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship

Our Pediatric Emergency Medicine fellowship is ACGME-accredited. While we offer separate curricula for emergency medicine residency graduates and pediatric residency graduates, all of our graduates have passed the PEM Boards on their first attempt. We accept one new fellow per year.

We Are Big: Main Destination for Critically Ill and Injured Children

You will train in the region’s only Pediatric ED—Sadowsky Family Pediatric Emergency Department—which includes 18 pedi beds and a designated pediatric trauma bay. With approximately 31,000 pediatric visits per year, you will see a vast range of clinical pathology.

You will become adept at providing the highest quality care for the acutely ill and injured children in our pediatric intensive care unit, the only one in western Massachusetts, which makes us the main EMS destination.

We Are Small: Tailor Your Curriculum to Meet Your Needs

As a small program, we can tailor the training environment to uniquely meet your needs and interests.

Our fellows and residents are supervised in our pediatric emergency department by Board-certified/Board-eligible PEM faculty, including one faculty member who is also a board-certified toxicologist.

You will also benefit from the expertise in our residency and other fellowships. The Emergency Medicine Research Fellowship Director supervises fellowship research with support from biostatisticians and epidemiologists. Our Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship faculty supervise a one month rotation and provide a didactic curriculum.

Faculty from Baystate Children's Hospital supervise fellows on additional rotations in pediatric intensive care, neonatal resuscitation, pediatric anesthesia, pediatric radiology, and abuse evaluation. Elective time is also available with faculty from other pediatric subspecialties.

Come To Train, Stay To Live
