Baystate Children’s Hospital (BCH) is the primary infectious disease center for the western Massachusetts region. Our pediatric doctors are board certified in pediatric infectious diseases – health conditions that affect kids that are caused by organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, or parasites.

With the area’s only Pediatric Emergency Department as well as a Children’s Specialty Center, BCH is the place to go for expert, compassionate care for your child. We treat a wide range of diseases, including Lyme disease, HIV/AIDS, skin infections and MRSA.

Infectious diseases we evaluate and treat include:

  • Antibiotic-resistant infections (including MRSA, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection)
  • Bone infections (osteomyelitis)
  • Difficult-to-treat infections
  • Herpes virus infections
  • HIV/AIDS

  • Lyme disease, a bacterial infection transmitted by ticks
