About Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice (BVNAH)

For over 100 years, Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice has provided the highest quality care to patients and families, primarily in the home setting.

We are a nonprofit agency that is fully certified by Medicare and Medicaid. We accept all major insurances.

Serving patients in Hampden, Hampshire, and western Worcester counties, Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice provides care seven days a week with 24-hour availability.

BVNAH Hospice

Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice offers hospice care in western Massachusetts for terminally-ill patients and their families provided by professionals and volunteers who are specially trained to tend to physical, social, and spiritual wellbeing.

Hospice09162009Hospice services are designed to offer comfort at the end of life, and neither hasten nor postpone death. Hospice helps patients and families live life fully and maintain personal dignity and control over their lives for as long as possible.

The comprehensive hospice services based in Springfield and Ware provided by Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice include:

In addition, Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice offers an Ethics Committee which is available to hospice patients and families to assist with difficult health care choices.

To be eligible for hospice care, patients must be diagnosed with a terminal illness and be aware that they have a limited life expectancy of six months or less if the disease runs its natural course.

Our hospice staff is available seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Patients may receive care wherever they live: in their home, retirement home, group home, assisted living facility, nursing home, or other setting.

Reimbursement for services may come from Medicare, Medicaid, health insurance plans, or direct patient payments. Our hospice staff is happy to meet with you to discuss financial concerns, and applications for financial assistance are available.

Baystate Visiting Nurse Association & Hospice serves Hampden, Hampshire, and western Worcester counties, is Medicare/Medicaid-certified, licensed by the Department of Public Health of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and accredited by the Joint Commission.

Bereavement Care

Our bereavement care understands the nature of grief, involves compassionate support and offers effective guidance during your time of loss. Hospice services include free bereavement care - including support groups, individual visits, and comforting phone calls.
