The Emergency Department at Baystate Wing Hospital

Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer has opened an expanded Emergency Department (ED) to better serve the needs of our community. Our 74-bed community hospital has a rich history of providing outstanding health care for people throughout the Quaboag Hills and the Pioneer Valley.

At Baystate Wing Hospital, we offer a broad range of medical, surgical, and psychiatric services. Our fully-staffed Emergency Department provides comprehensive emergency services for adults and children around the clock. We're a primary stroke center designated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and our ED is recognized with a Get With the Guidelines® Gold Plus quality award for stroke care from the American Heart Association.

The new Emergency Department offers 20 treatment bays, including two bays designated for the care of trauma patients and three bays for patients with behavioral health needs. The new design makes it possible for us to treat more patients – right here at home.

  • 3X larger than previous Emergency Department
  • Private rooms
  • Windows in many patient rooms offering natural light
