Experts at Baystate Children’s Hospital provide compassionate care to meet the needs of young children with autism-spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, anxiety, depression, genetic disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
If you suspect your baby or toddler has a developmental disability, autism-spectrum disorder, or ADHD, talk to your pediatrician about your concerns. Your child’s doctor may refer you to our developmental behavioral specialists.
ASSESSMENT AND DIAGNOSIS
Our team at the Baystate Children’s Specialty Center assesses and diagnoses children who under age 7 who have symptoms that suggest autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities. This may include individualized psychological testing if necessary.
We also work with children of all ages to assess and diagnose issues related to ADHD, anxiety, and behavior problems.
Our specialists will then recommend behavioral therapies and services that are best for your child. We can give you a copy of our evaluation and send copies to your child’s primary doctor or other specialists.
CONSULTATIONS AND MEDICATION
For children of any age who have already been diagnosed with developmental disability, autism, anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, genetic disorders, or other behavior problems, we provide behavioral consultation and medication management. This means we will work closely with you and your child to find the right medication to manage the condition.
Our team can give you a copy of our evaluation or send copies to your child’s primary doctor or to other specialists.
