When Peter Blake went for a routine colonoscopy, it turned out to be anything but routine. He learned he needed surgery to remove a pre-cancerous growth.
“It was shocking,” he remembers. And he couldn’t help but start thinking about the worst possible outcomes.
But when he met his surgeon, Dr. Thampi Ampadi at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, he had hope. “I just believed he was going to take care of me,” Blake says. “And that’s what he did. Dr. Ampadi, in my eyes, is the best.”
Just days after surgery in the Baystate Franklin Surgical Center, he started walking down the halls of the center. And he hasn’t stopped moving since.
Following a clean bill of health, Blake is back to doing all the things he likes to do: playing golf, tending to his band of backyard chickens, and working at a local school.
He considers himself a very lucky man, with a new perspective on life.
