Greenfield Couple Appreciates Vascular Expertise in Franklin County
Richard Duprey, age 86, had always spent quite a lot of time on his feet. He worked in the construction business for decades, until retiring in his 60s. Even after retirement, he maintained a big garden at his home in Greenfield and worked as a custodian at his church.
Then there came the day that being on his feet caused Richard pain, because his legs had become swollen. That’s how he came to be under the care of Dr. Sang W. Rhee at Baystate Heart & Vascular in Greenfield.
Fortunately, Dr. Rhee knew exactly what to do to help Richard. He performed a ligation procedure on the leg, which meant tying off a large aneurysm.
Once this was accomplished, Richard was able to resume his normal activities.
Eleanor Duprey says this was a great relief for her husband. “He was always someone you just couldn’t get to keep still,” she says.
Richard continues to see Dr. Rhee, and Eleanor is especially grateful that there is a vascular specialist so close to home. “It’s so much easier than having to drive to Springfield every six months,” she says.
She adds that everyone at Baystate Heart & Vascular has been so caring.
“They’ve been wonderful to us,” she says. “Dr. Rhee is certainly a very smart man. I’m quite fond of him. If we ever need anything, we always get seen right away.”
