Beth Cardillo, MEd, LSW, executive director of the Armbrook Village retirement community in Westfield, is the recipient of the 2021 Healthcare Heroes Community Health Award from Business West.

Ms. Cardillo, a Baystate Community Faculty member since 2019, is a dementia specialist who has worked with the senior population for the last 20+ years.

She has hosted a Population Health Clerkship around dementia awareness and assessment for medical students in the Population-based Urban and Rural Community Health track.

She also worked with Baystate Health's Interprofessional Student Volunteer Corps on a program to support persons with dementia—doing in-person, physically distant meet-and-greets with elders at Armbrook Village.

According to Business West, Ms. Cardillo is being honored in the realm where she has had the biggest impact—community health. She is best known for creating the Dementia Friendly Westfield/Western Massachusetts project that builds awareness, empathy and reduces the stigma of dementia.

Ms. Cardillo also contributes her time, expertise and passion to Baystate Noble Hospital’s Community Benefits Advisory Council and the Community Health Needs Assessment Regional Advisory Council.
