Roberta and Bob Bolduc have left quite the mark on Baystate Health. From supporting projects like the Baystate Medical Center’s Hospital of the Future and the new Pediatric Procedure Unit, to sponsoring events including Rays of Hope Walk & Run Toward the Cure of Breast Cancer and the 94.7 WMAS Radiothon for Baystate Children’s Hospital, the Bolducs’ generosity of treasure and time has made a difference in the care provided by Baystate Health.
The couple was the recipient of the 2019 Baystate Health Foundation Impact Award, presented at the President’s Evening of Gratitude in September. This annual award honors donors who have supported Baystate Health through their philanthropic efforts.
A truly fitting recognition for the couple who shared that what matters most to them when it comes to their support is the ability to give back locally, especially in their roles as business leaders and owners of Pride Convenience, Inc.
“Being in business, we know that you need a good hospital system or good business people won’t be attracted to the area,” shared Bob. “We always give to local charities because we know people know of them, we know the people on the boards, and we know that the dollars are well spent and not moved out of the area.” In times of need, Baystate Health is their family resource for healthcare services, including Roberta’s recent knee replacement which she jokes gave her an extra inch and a half in height.
“I want people to know how wonderful the hospital is and the great care you receive at Baystate Health. We have top-notch doctors and nurses and I never have an issue – I hope I don’t have to go! – but I’m never reluctant to go,” she said.
And, with the importance of keeping their generosity close to home comes the benefit of local care they can rely on.
“There’s no need to go out of the area, as far as we are concerned, because Baystate Health has such a thorough, complete quality group of practitioners,” added Bob.
When the couple has the opportunity to take a break from their professional and volunteer roles, they enjoy spending time with their daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Former Baystate Health
Foundation Trustee Roberta is an avid golfer and Bob likes spending time training for triathlons and gardening.
