Reham Shaaban DO, Internal Medicine Residency program director, has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC). The AIAMC is a national organization of independently governed academic medical centers committed to delivering exceptional patient care through excellence in medical education and innovation.
As a Board member she will advise, govern, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of the AIAMC to ensure the organization meets its mission and serves the needs of its members. Her 3-year term began in April 2020.
“This Board appointment is a great honor to continue active involvement and have a voice to keep Baystate’s legacy alive within the organization and also to advocate for exceptional patient care, safety and educational innovation,” said Dr. Shaaban.
To be selected to the Board, a nominee must be employed by a current AIAMC member institution in good standing, and in a senior management position at their institution.
Baystate Medical Center was instrumental in founding the AIAMC in 1989 under the direction of Ethel Weinberg MD, Baystate's first chief academic officer.
