Changes in Visitor Policy Announced for The Birthplace at Baystate Franklin Medical Center

January 28, 2019

As the winter season continues, so has the increase in cold and flu illnesses especially among children in our community. In the interest of providing a safe environment for our newborn patients and their families and minimizing the spread of such illnesses, The Birthplace at Baystate Franklin Medical Center is initiating temporary changes to its visitor policy effective Monday, Jan. 28.

The following precautions have been announced:

No visits from those not feeling well or who have the flu

All visitors will be asked to complete a health screening form prior to visiting

No visitors under the age of 12, except siblings of the new baby

The restrictions are in the best interest of both patients and the community. Those who wish to connect to a hospitalized friend or family member can call, Skype, or Face Time. Birthplace staff will assist patients and families concerned about maintaining strong family connections.
