Visitor Restrictions Announced at Baystate Children's Hospital During Flu Season

December 27, 2017

As the winter season begins, so has the increase in cold and flu illnesses especially among children in our community. In the interest of providing a safe environment for all and minimizing the spread of such illnesses, Baystate is initiating visitor restrictions only within Baystate Children’s Hospital, effective Thursday, Dec. 28.

New visitor restrictions

The restrictions include:

• No more than two visitors at a time.
• Only visitors essential for the child’s well being.
• Only well visitors should come to visit.
• No one under the age of 12 is allowed to visit.

Other ways to connect

The restrictions are in the best interest of both patients and the community. For those who wish to connect to a hospitalized child or the family, they can call, Skype, or Face Time. Child Life team members will assist patients and families concerned about maintaining strong family connections.
