Busy parents-to-be, who may not otherwise be able to benefit from the many childbirth classes available to them at Baystate Medical Center, can now sign up for a special two-day Childbirth Education Express.
Held for two evenings on July 20 and 27 from 6-9 p.m., the Childbirth Education class provides information on the stages of labor and delivery, basic comfort techniques, medications, medical interventions and postpartum care.
The bundled event also includes three additional classes on Infant Care, Prenatal and Postnatal Newborn Behavior, and Feeding.
Classes fill quickly
Because classes fill up quickly, registration is recommended by the fourth month of pregnancy. Classes should be taken 6-8 weeks before the mother’s due date.
Classes are $160 per couple and held in the Lundy Board Room located in the hospital’s Wesson Building on Chestnut Street.
Some insurance companies will reimburse those who enroll in childbirth classes. Check with your insurance provider to determine whether you are covered.
Additional classes are scheduled for Aug. 10 and 17 and Sept. 14 and 21.
