Silhouettes salon holds cut-a-thon to benefit the 12th annual Walk of Champions

On Saturday, April 8, Debbie Rozzen, owner of Silhouettes Salon and her staff will donate their earnings and tips that day for all haircuts to raise funds for the 12th Annual Walk of Champions.

The Silhouettes team will offer $15 haircuts and no appointments necessary, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at the salon, located at 164 B West Street, Ware. “We are proud to support such a great cause that helps so many people in our community,” said Rozzen, who has been in business locally for over 22 years and is well known and respected as a talented stylist and business owner in Ware. All proceeds of the Cut-a-thon will support “Team Silhouettes” fundraising efforts as they join hundreds of walkers in the 12th Annual Walk of Champions held at the Goodnough Dike area of the Quabbin Reservoir to be held on Sunday, May 7.

For Rozzen and her family keeping cancer care local is important. “My experience with family and friends who have needed cancer care has inspired my continued commitment to support the Baystate Regional Cancer Program in Ware, where they were able to get the cancer care they needed locally,” said Rozzen.

In 2016 the Walk of Champions raised $86,766, in support of integrated cancer services offered by the Baystate Regional Cancer Program at Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center located in Ware.

“Debbie continues her support and commitment for patients undergoing cancer treatments at Baystate Mary Lane with her involvement in the Walk of Champions and she is also a specially trained cosmetologist who facilitates our Look Good…Feel Better classes held at the hospital,” said Michelle Boivin, RN, Oncology Nurse at the Baystate Regional Cancer Program in Ware. During the programs sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Cosmetology Association, Rozzen shares makeup techniques to help women overcome the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation.
