General Surgeon, Dr. Zeling Chau MD, joins Baystate Health

Dr. Zeling Chau, general surgeon, recently joined the medical staff at Baystate Wing Hospital in Palmer.

“Improving access to local surgical care remains one of our top priorities and Dr. Chau is a wonderful addition to our team,” said Dr. David Maguire, Chief Medical Officer for the Eastern Region, which includes Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center and Baystate Wing Hospital.

“He joins us in our commitment to provide community members across the region with easy access to outstanding surgical care close to home.”

Meet Dr. Chau

Dr. Chau received his medical degree from the New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York and completed his residency at the University of Mass Medical Center in Worcester, where he served as Chief Surgical Resident and was recognized and received the 2016 H. Brownell Wheeler Outstanding Resident Award. In addition, Dr. Chau was inducted into the Arnold Gold Humanism Honor Society, which recognizes individuals who embody the qualities of integrity, excellence, altruism, respect and empathy and who serve as role models, leaders and advocates for humanism in medicine.

As a resident of Worcester County, Dr. Chau is excited about providing care in the region he knows and loves. He is fluent in English and Chinese (Wenzhou). In addition to his passion for surgical medicine, Dr. Chau has a keen interest in aquariums and aquarium fish breeding. He also enjoys hiking, gardening and cooking, but most of all, Dr. Chau enjoys spending time with his wife Vivian and four year old daughter Felicia.
