D & D Fitness Factory, a co-ed training facility in Ware invites the community to join them for two special events to be held on Saturday, April 23; the Lift for Life and 5K Walk and Road Race. Both events are held in memory of their family member Donna Goudreau.
“Whether you lift, walk or run, come in first or watch the fun, this event is for everyone,” said Darryl Goudreau, owner of D & D Fitness Factory, located in Ware. Goudreau and his wife Janine, join with their family and friends to hold the annual event to help raise funds for their Walk of Champions team and the Walk of Champions to be held at the Quabbin Reservoir on Sunday, May 1.
The co-ed lifting competition has five men’s weight classes and two women’s class, which included a bench press, axle bar lift and a truck pull. The 5K Road Race, managed by Goudreau’s wife Janine, features four co-ed age groups, students age 19 and under, ages 20-35, ages 36 to 50 and ages 51 and up, and prizes are awarded to the top finishers in each category.
“Our early spring morning event will also include raffles and refreshments to help kick off the excitement for those that want to come cheer us on,” said Goudreau. “We are proud to be a local gym raising money that will help people who live in our community," said Goudreau. “My family and I are grateful to the members of our gym members and the community support of our special event. We are proud to put our strength together in support cancer care offered by the Baystate Regional Cancer Program at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, something that was important to Donna and our family during her cancer journey.”
The Goudreau family invites community members to join them on Saturday, April 23, to compete in the Fitness Challenge, the Road Race or to cheer on the competition throughout the morning.
