Free diabetes seminar on April 6 will offer practical tips to balance your diet and lower your sugar levels

Then, here's a seminar for you - What's Your Type? - Diabetes Prevention and Management - to be held Wednesday afternoon, April 6, from 2-3:30 p.m. at the Baystate Health Education Center on 361 Whitney Ave, in Holyoke.
Nearly one in four Americans ages 65 and over have diabetes – type 1 or 2 or even prediabetes – with 1.4 million Americans diagnosed every year, according to the American Diabetes Association.
Karen Zapka, RN, a diabetes educator in the diabetes program at Baystate Medical Center, will discuss strategies for improving overall blood sugar control, dispel some common myths, talk about what you can do if you are pre-diabetic or already diagnosed, and offer practical nutrition tips for help to balance your diet.
Handouts with recipes and tips will be provided, and there will be healthy refreshments.
