Baystate Health has won Best in Class, the highest award bestowed by the Interactive Media Awards (IMA), for the hospital’s website redevelopment.
IMA’s Best in Class award – awarded in the competition’s “Hospital” category – recognizes Baystate’s newly-redesigned website – baystatehealth.org – as “the very best in planning, execution, and overall professionalism.” The hospital shares the award with MedTouch, a leading health care online strategy and technology vendor who was instrumental in creating the new website with Baystate.
“This award is a testament to our commitment in providing high-quality healthcare resources to our community. In an age of mobile technology and reliance on digital media, we believe that our website streamlines the ideal consumer experience,” said Jennifer Endicott, chief strategy officer and senior vice president, Strategy and External Relations, Baystate Health. “Congratulations to the combined efforts of our Digital Marketing and Information Technology teams, physicians, clinical and support staff, our Patient and Family Advisory Board, and MedTouch. This team effort resulted in an award-winning, enhanced user experience that is certain to benefit our patients and visitors.”
The Interactive Media Awards recognize the highest standards of excellence in website design and development, and honor individuals and organizations for their outstanding achievement. Sponsored by the Interactive Media Council, Inc., a nonprofit organization of leading web designers, developers, programmers, advertisers and other web-related professionals, the competition seeks to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet.
In order to achieve Best in Class, the hospital’s website was subjected to a rigorous, comprehensive judging process, achieving high marks in each of five identified criteria – design, content, feature functionality, usability and standards compliance. Baystate Health achieved exceptionally high scores in each category (based on a score of 0-100), totaling an impressive 490 out of a possible score of 500.
“This is an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each year", said Ron Henry, manager, Digital and Web Strategy, Baystate Health, and team leader of the website redesign.
“With careful planning and a lot of hard work, our new website positively reflects the ‘higher state of caring’ that Baystate Health embodies. Web presence today is the new front door of an organization and baystatehealth.org serves as a testament to the technological importance of being able to deliver easily accessible information to visitors on the specialized, exceptional healthcare being delivered at Baystate Health,” he added.
Focused on long-term digital success, MedTouch delivered the new patient-centric Baystate Health website as part of a comprehensive roadmap developed to support the long-term growth of key digital platforms, including web, social, mobile and e-communications.
