Where else but in the Baystate Wing Hospital Gift Shop can you purchase a scarf, a unique piece of jewelry, a book, snack, music box, stuffed animal or greeting card and contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community.

The gift shop that makes a difference

Since 1952 the Baystate Wing Auxiliary has been actively supporting local healthcare through its sponsorship of special events and management of the gift shop located on the first floor of the hospital.

In addition to being the Auxiliary’s primary fundraiser, the gift shop fills another important function for patients, family members, and visitors; providing an oasis within the hustle of the hospital walls where they may stop in, take a break, and visit with Auxiliary volunteers who are always ready to offer a compassionate smile, a light- hearted moment and an encouraging word.

About the Auxiliary

The Baystate Wing Auxiliary is made up of a diverse group of over 70 women and men, including a husband and wife team, coming from the many communities served by the hospital. What unites them is their shared commitment to supporting the mission of Baystate Wing Hospital.

The Auxiliary has made significant contributions to Baystate Wing Hospital through annual special events, which have enjoyed a rich history of community support. During 2006 to 2012, this dedicated team of volunteers raised and donated $150,000 for the New Building and Geriatric Psychiatric Inpatient Unit Capital Campaigns. Most recently, the Auxiliary pledged $75,000 for hospital’s Emergency Department Capital Campaign.

In addition to staffing the gift shop Monday through Friday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, the Auxiliary frequently hosts special sales at the hospital, featuring unique items ranging from jewelry and designer pocketbooks, to flowers and candy.

According to the Auxiliary Treasurer, Jacqueline Mitchell who lives in Brimfield, “Several special event vendor sales are planned through 2015. We invite the public come to come in and find that special gift or treat as the holiday season approaches.”

The special event sales are all held in the lobby located on the ground floor of the hospital from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm, as follows:
