Baystate Community Health Centers to Offer Community Health Events, Aug. 9 - 15

August 11, 2015
Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center

SPRINGFIELDBaystate Medical Center’s three community health centers in Springfield will hold free health events during National Health Center Week, Aug. 9-15, whose theme this year is “America’s Health Centers: Celebrating Our Legacy, Shaping our Future.”

Baystate’s three health centers are anchors of public-health efforts in their respective neighborhoods, working in partnership with community members and groups to address some of the more pressing epidemiological challenges facing the City of Springfield. Across the country, community health centers improve access to care for millions of Americans regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. National Health Center week is a time for celebrating community health centers and their contributions to our national health. All of Baystate’s community centers will be holding celebrations throughout the week:

Monday, Aug. 10, through Friday Aug. 14, Baystate High Street Health Center located at 140 High St. will be registering patients for the Baystate Health Portal. The Baystate Health Portal is a free service that gives patients secure access to their medical information, such as lab results, medications, allergies, immunization records and discharge summaries. It also allows patients to direct message their physician, request appointments, refills and much more. Sign-ups will be held in the main entrance the health center from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, Aug. 12, The Baystate Mason Square Neighborhood Health Center will host a free health event, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Enjoy an afternoon of fun, networking, health information, entertainment, food, face painting, and more. The event will be held in the health center’s parking lot located at 11 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, MA.

The festivities conclude on Thursday, Aug. 13, when Baystate Brightwood Health Center/Centro de Salud holds its community health fair from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place on the lawn adjacent to the patient parking lot on Plainfield Street. Fitness demonstrations as well as health information and displays on various topics will be available. Free blood pressure and confidential rapid HIV testing will also be offered.
