Dr. Rene Umanzor, endocrinologist to discuss thyroid disorders on June 17

June 03, 2015

Area women are invited to join Baystate Health’s Spirit of Women Program for a lecture about Thyroid Disorders.

The program offered by Dr. Rene Umanzor, endocrinologist at both Baystate Wing Hospital and Baystate Mary Lane Hospital, will be held at Baystate Mary Lane Hospital in Ware, on Wednesday, June 17, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm. It will be held in the Main Conference Room on the second floor of the hospital.

What to expect

“Lethargy, slower mental processes, depression, reduced heart rate, increased sensitivity to cold, and tingling or numbness in the hands could be signs that your thyroid is not working properly,” said Tracy Whitley, Manager of Loyalty Programs and the Spirit of Women Program.

Dr.  Umanzor will discuss how the thyroid works, the medical tests that doctors use in diagnosing thyroid conditions, as well as common thyroid conditions women can encounter and why. The lecture is free.
