The Pediatrician Is In

May 05, 2014

It’s not easy to get your children to eat healthy in a world filled with fast food temptations and super-sized sodas. And that’s where "The Pediatrician Is In" can assist you.

Learning a healthier lifestyle

The free Baystate Children’s Hospital Parent Education Series will continue on May 14 with "Table Talk: Tips for a Health Family." Led by Dr. Chrystal Wittcopp, medical director, Pediatric Weight Management Program at Baystate Children’s Hospital, the session will focus on creative and effective strategies to help children eat healthier and exercise more.

“Our table talk will focus on the importance of early childhood nutrition and the difference it can make in your child’s future health and eating habits,” said Dr. Wittcopp.

Clinical dietitian Alison Roy, RD, from the Department of Food and Nutrition Services at Baystate, who assists with the Pediatric Weight Management Program, will be offering hands-on examples of ways to get your kids to eat more fruits and vegetables, healthy shopping on a budget, and meal preparation.

There will also be handouts on portion sizes, exercise tips, and healthy snack ideas, along with recipes.

How to register

The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Baystate Children’s Specialty Center on 50 Wason Ave. in Springfield. Child care will be provided. Refreshments will be served.

Registration is required by calling 1-800-377-4325.
